BRC AREA 5 COMBINED CHALLENGE QUALIFIER
SATURDAY 27TH NOVEMBER 2021
This competition will test the ability and timing of a horse and rider to negotiate a show jumping course
followed by a cross country course – this competition will all be run in a grass arena.

CLASS 1: 70CM MIXED COMBINED CHALLENGE – SJ Speed: 350mpm, XC Speed: 350mpm
Individuals and mixed teams (Senior and/or juniors) - Teams consist of 3 or 4 riders with best 3 scores to count
Open to Junior and Senior members of an affiliated Riding Club that have paid their membership for the current year. This will be run as
single phase with Max Height of 70cm.
Horse Eligibility: 0 BE Foundation Points. Horses may be registered with BE but must not have any BE points. Not to have completed a
BE90 or above in the current or previous calendar year.
Rider Eligibility: Not to have completed a BE90, AE90, BRC HT90 or CH90 or above in the current competition year. Rider not to compete
at 90 or above in qualifier or championship.

CLASS 4: 80CM SENIOR COMBINED CHALLENGE – SJ Speed: 350mpm, XC Speed: 350mpm
Individuals and teams (seniors) - Teams consist of 3 or 4 riders with best 3 scores to count
Open to senior members of an affiliated Riding Club that have paid their membership for the current year. This will be run as single phase
with Max Height of 80cm.
Horse Eligibility: 0 BE Points. Horses may be registered with BE but must not have any BE points. Not to have completed a BE100 or above
in the current or previous calendar year.
Rider Eligibility (Not Permitted): Riders who have completed under FEI Rules in FEI 3* (previously 2* until end of 2018) and above only.

CLASS 5: 90CM SENIOR COMBINED CHALLENGE – SJ Speed: 350mpm, XC Speed: 360mpm
Individuals and teams (seniors) - Teams consist of 3 or 4 riders with best 3 scores to count
Open to senior members of an affiliated Riding Club that have paid their membership for the current year. This will be run as single phase
with Max Height of 90cm.
Horse Eligibility: 5 BE Points. Horses may be registered with BE but must not have more than 5 BE points. Not to have completed a BE
Novice or above in the current or previous calendar year.
Rider Eligibility (Not Permitted): Riders who have completed under FEI Rules in FEI 3* (previously 2* until end of 2018) and above only.

CLASS 6: 100CM MIXED COMBINED CHALLENGE – SJ Speed: 350mpm, XC Speed: 375mpm
Individuals and mixed teams (Senior and/or juniors) - Teams consist of 3 or 4 riders with best 3 scores to count
Open to Junior and Senior members of an affiliated Riding Club that have paid their membership for the current year. This will be run as
single phase with Max Height of 100cm.
Horse Eligibility: 20 BE Points.
Rider Eligibility (Not Permitted): Riders who have completed under FEI Rules in FEI 4* (previously 3* until end of 2018) and above only.

NO HORSE MAY COMPETE IN MORE THAN ONE COMBINED CHALLENGE CLASS AT THIS COMPETITION

Competitors will start inside of a start box (simple enclosure with an open front marked with a red and white
flag), the judge will then sound the bell and competitors will commence onto the course from the start box
and through the timing equipment. The show jumping course will consist of a minimum of 6 show jumps,
including at least one double and include a proportion with fillers (brushes, walls, etc.). The cross-country
course will consist of a minimum of 6 jumping efforts.

ENTRY FEES:
£47.50 to include prelim fee. Entry will be submitted by Misterton RC either as an individual or team and individual (we always try and do the later, so if you intend to enter please do so in good time). Prelim fee has to be paid by the club by 5th November, so this entry will close 4th November. We will try and fill teams after that date if we can.

If you wish to compete at this event for POINTS ONLY, as an individual, you can do so, and the closing date is not until 19th November, entry fee is £37. If you wish to do this please tell Beth Kerslake on beththechainfarm@gmail.com

A full copy of vaccination certificate must be seen by the chief steward before the competition for each horse/pony’s
entry. All horses MUST have been vaccinated within one year of the competition and not within the 7 days prior to the
event.

Qualifiers for the BRC Combined Championships (formally FOTH) at Washbrook Farm, Aston-le-Walls on the 21st and 22nd May 2022.

REFUNDS: After the closing date, entries will only be refunded if notified by 12 noon on Monday 22nd November 2021
and on receipt of medical/vets certificates.
THIS RULE WILL BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO AND NO REFUND OF ENTRY WILL BE MADE

If the date of the qualifier is cancelled for any reason, the close of pre-entry will remain. However, if the qualifier is
moved more than 21 days later, entries will be re-opened but late entry fees cannot be refunded. Eligibility will be
considered from the original close of pre-entry date.

All hats must have a visible AQUA BRC hat tag in place before they are used for warming up and competing. There will
be a trained steward at the competition who is able to tag your hat for you if it doesn’t already have one.
All horses MUST be vaccinated in line with Rule G7 of the 2021 rule book. They MUST have been vaccinated within one
year of the competition and not within the 7 days prior to the event. There is a checking device on the BRC website to

Tack and Dress Rules
STOP WATCHES ARE NOT PERMITTED AT THIS COMPETITION
Body protectors and riding helmets WITHOUT a fixed peak must be worn for this competition.
Please make sure you adhere to tack and dress rules found in the current version of the BRC rules. The full 2021
Rulebook is available to download online. If you have a query regarding these rules, please ring contact Tony Parker or
Val Malka for guidance.
General Rules:
“Rules for Official Competitions 2021”.
HATS must be worn whenever mounted and conform to PAS015 (1998 or 2011). VG01.040 2014-12. with a BSI Kite mark
or Inspec IC mark ASTM F1163.2004a onwards with SEI mark SNELL E2001 or 2016 (No additional mark required)
BODY PROTECTORS A body protector is obligatory for all arena eventing and crosscountry events and are also strongly
recommended for all show jumping events. A BETA Level 3 (Purple label) which has a 2009 label or 2018 Blue label must
be worn. Body protectors should be fitted and worn as per the manufacturer’s instructions. If a rider chooses to wear an
airbag style body protector it must be worn over a permitted body protector and if activated, must be deflated or
removed before continuing. Hybrid Air jackets and Helite Air Jackets are permitted. It is recommended that body
protectors are replaced once they are more than 5 years old. Riders wearing Exo Body Cage protectors must inform the
secretary at all events.
CORRECT dress & footwear with defined heels must be worn. Long hair is to be suitably tied up.

ALL horses and ponies must be four years old and over. All riders to be 8 years old and over.
ENTRIES accepted at rider’s risk. SRC reserve the right to refuse an entry at their discretion, cancel, amend or
amalgamate any class for any reason whatsoever. The Judge’s decision is final.
INSURANCE Each competitor must carry their own liability insurance whether Riding Club, Pony Club, BHS, BS, BD, BE or
independent cover.
HEALTH & SAFETY The organisers of this event have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of
everyone present. For these measures to be effective everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and
prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organisers and all the officials and stewards. Those
attending this event must report any accidents to the secretary or organizer of the event.
Please do not leave unattended horses tied to lorries and no hay nets to be tied to the outside of lorries or trailers.
Solihull Riding Club welcomes responsible dog owners. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY save for the death or injury caused by the negligence of the organisers of the event, no liability
is accepted for any accident, loss or damage, injury or illness to horses, ponies, owners, riders, spectators, vehicles their
contents and accessories, or any other person or property whatsoever, whether caused by their negligence, breach of
contract or in any way whatsoever.
COVID-19 precautions
You must not attend site if you, or any of those travelling with you, or anyone from your household is exhibiting any
symptoms of being unwell.
We will not accept anyone just “turning up”.
Please ensure you bring an adequate supply of water for you and your horse.
Government guidelines could change quickly at any time; therefore Solihull Riding Club reserve the right to close site at short notice.
